Antimicrobial technology

Built‑in product protection for plastics, polymers, textiles and more

Biomaster is an antimicrobial technology that is integrated into materials during manufacture to inhibit the growth of microbes for the life of the product.

Unlike topical coatings, Biomaster becomes part of the polymer, paper, textile or paint and will not wear off or wash away. Biomaster antimicrobial technology is effective against bacteria, and formulations are available as masterbatch pellets, liquids or powders, making them suitable for injection moulding, extrusion, coating or printing processes.

How Biomaster works

Biomaster uses silver‑ion technology with a proven track record in hygiene applications. When microbes land on a Biomaster‑protected surface, the silver ions bind to the cell’s proteins and enzymes, disrupting energy production and cell replication. This triple action stops bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria and MRSA from growing and colonising the surface. The active ingredient remains locked within the material, providing 24/7 antimicrobial protection that does not leach out or affect colour or transparency.

Why use Biomaster?

Extending your range with a product offering the benefits of built-in and lasting antimicrobial protection helps you open up new markets and increase market share and revenue.

However, when choosing an antimicrobial technology to co-brand with, it is important that you select one that works the hardest for you.

Add value to your product

Biomaster pioneered the use of silver based antimicrobial technology and our experience of introducing antimicrobial products around the world is unrivalled.

The 'Biomaster Protected' symbol can already be found in major retailers along with best-selling products around the world, providing effective antimicrobial product protection where hygiene is critical.

Biomaster surface protection

Biomaster antimicrobial technology ensures that protected surfaces pro-actively inhibit the growth of bacteria, offering round-the-clock protection for the lifespan of the product. This perpetual protection is a game-changer, providing an additional layer of safeguarding between regular cleaning routines, leading to cleaner and more hygienic surfaces.
