Candle Gives You Smell of a New Mac Without The Price Tag

For 40 years now Apple Inc. has been at the forefront of consumer electronics, revolutionising computers, phones and even watches. It's this and its fiercely loyal brand following which makes it one of the world’s most valuable companies and anyone who has ever bought a new Apple product can’t help but be impressed by its packaging.

Perhaps this explains why there are nearly 3 million Apple unboxing videos on YouTube, with one unboxing clip for the latest iPhone 7 racking up over 6 million views in little over a fortnight.

One savvy company has attempted to capture the experience of opening a brand new Apple Mac in a scented candle, using notes of mint, peach, basil, lavender, mandarin and sage to bring the smell of a brand new computer to your lounge.

A spokesman for Twelve South, the US based Apple accessories company selling the candle, said “This is our creative director’s interpretation of the new Mac smell. Not willing to fill their customers' homes with industrial fragrances, the company have used a bit of artistic licence, “We know that a lot of the scents that come from opening a new Mac are more about the metals and glues… the key aspect for our scent capture was that it is still a candle you want to have in your home With a burn time of around 45-55 hours, the New Mac candle might prolong any Apple fan’s new gadget excitement, and at an affordable $24 it’s certainly won over enough fans to sell out already.

Would you fill your home with the scent of a new Mac? Or is this just a clever marketing ploy?
