Decoded

Smartphone accessories are among the most frequently handled products in everyday life, constantly exposed to different environments and touchpoints. As consumer awareness around hygiene continues to grow, brands are increasingly looking for ways to enhance product performance by integrating discreet, long-lasting protection features without compromising on design or user experience.

The Challenge

Mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life, accompanying us everywhere from kitchens and cars to workplaces and even bathrooms. Because they are constantly handled and moved between environments, they can easily pick up and transfer bacteria from one place to another. When placed in pockets, bags or on surfaces, mobile phones can also transfer these microbes to clothing and other surfaces, increasing the potential for cross contamination.

Healthcare experts have highlighted how easily microbes transfer from hands to mobile devices, as phones collect dirt, oil and bacteria naturally present on skin. With every interaction, microbial contamination can build up, with studies suggesting that phones can be up to ten times dirtier than a toilet seat.

Decoded, known for its premium Apple accessories, wanted to address this growing hygiene concern by enhancing the performance of its silicone case range, without compromising the soft-touch feel, aesthetics, or overall product quality expected by its customers.

The Solution

To meet this challenge, Decoded integrated antimicrobial product protection into its silicone accessory range. By incorporating Biomaster antimicrobial technology directly into the material during manufacturing, Decoded was able to introduce a built-in hygiene feature that works continuously on the surface of the product.

This approach ensures that the antimicrobial protection is intrinsic to the material itself, rather than a surface coating, allowing the product to maintain its premium look and feel while delivering enhanced functionality.

The Product

The Decoded Silicone Case range, available for iPhone 13 through to the latest iPhone 17 models, as well as selected Apple Watch accessories, features Biomaster antimicrobial technology from Addmaster.

Manufactured directly into the silicone, the technology works continuously to inhibit the growth of microbes on the surface of the case or strap. The protection is designed to last for the lifetime of the product, as it does not leach, wash off, or wear away over time.

This allows Decoded to deliver a premium accessory range that combines design, durability, and added product protection without altering the core user experience.

The Results

By incorporating Biomaster, Decoded has successfully enhanced the functionality of its high-touch accessories with an additional layer of product protection. This integration provides consumers with increased confidence in the cleanliness of the products they use every day, while maintaining the premium quality associated with the brand.

As awareness of hygiene continues to grow among consumers, Decoded’s solution offers a subtle yet valuable point of differentiation, delivering long-lasting antimicrobial product protection without compromising on design or performance
