Biomaster antibacterial technology is used in Linpac’s award-winning range of technically advanced trays, lids and films to reduce bacterial growth on the outer packaging of fresh meat.
The trays, lids and film were developed in partnership with Addmaster to inhibit the growth of dangerous pathogens such as Campylobacter, E.Coli, salmonella and Listeria.
Up to a million people a year in the UK suffer from food poisoning and the single most common cause is Campylobacter, an organism found in more than 70% of all chicken sold in supermarkets and responsible for an estimated 460,000 cases, 22,000 hospitalisations and 110 deaths every year.
7% of outer packaging of chicken sold in supermarkets also tests positive for Campylobacter, which means that at least 800,000 portions of chicken with infected outer packs are sold every year.
Biomaster inhibits the growth of surface bacteria, reducing the risk of food poisoning from contact with contaminated packaging.
