Addmaster is showing the food and drink industry how innovative additive technology can add value at the UK’s premier trade event next week.

Foodex 2018, the biennial show for food processing, packaging, ingredients and logistics, is running at the NEC, Birmingham from Monday until Wednesday.

Good hygiene is essential in any walk of life but especially so in an industry where cross-contamination from harrmful bacteria can be fatal. Biomaster antimicrobial technology is used in a wide range of applications to interrupt and inhibit the growth of bacteria, offering product protection for the lifetime of any treated article.

One innovation using Biomaster currently in development is a reusable antimicrobial coffee cup. A recent study has shown that coffee drinkers run the risk of exposure to potentially harmful bacteria if cups aren't washed properly immediately after use.

The Biomaster protected Thermapen is a thermometer used in professional and domestic kitchens worldwide and can test the true temperature of a product in just three seconds. Thermapen's casing contains antimicrobial technology ensuring lifelong product protection. Thermapen has also been nominated for the Foodex 'Best New Idea' award.

A range of Asda cling film, foil and bakery parchment dispenser cartons is also available protected with antimicrobial technology to inhibit cross-contamination of bacteria from hand to carton and from carton back to hand.

Another Biomaster innovation on show is a range of technically advanced trays, lids and films with built-in antimicrobial technology to reduce bacterial growth on the outer packaging of fresh meat.

Addmaster partner Sealwise meanwhile has developed an ultra-hygienic antibacterial sheet material that is highly resistant to all types of common bacteria, Sealwise WCB is extremely versatile and ideal for food production areas helping create a healthier environment by reducing the opportunity for cross-contamination.

Karl Shaw, Marketing Manager at Addmaster says: "at the show we are also presenting Verimaster, our covert counterfeit technology. It allows customers to build a secret identification system into packaging during the manufacturing process to protect global brands from counterfeiting.

Show visitors will also be able to sample Scentmaster, our range of highly concentrated fragrance, flavour and deodorising masterbatches designed to give manufacturers a competitive edge. Scentmaster flavours and fragrances can be used in a variety of applications in the marketing of food and beverage packaging.

It is manufactured and supplied in a unique format that ensures that all of the fragrance is protected, allowing it to remain fresh and stable and deliver the subtle top notes of a high quality scent."

You can find Addmaster at Foodex in Hall 3 on stand Q321.
