Bytec Medical, the medical equipment manufacturer of the Bytec group, has launched the next generation of its easy-clean, wireless, USB keyboard designed for improved infection control and functionality for hospital and medical environments. The second generation Medi-KeyTM keyboard now offers improved key response and feel, a wider touchpad with gesture response and an optional numeric keypad.

Designed for use where infection control is critical the new Medi-Key can now be programmed to advise when cleaning is necessary. Entering the disinfect mode avoids the need to switch off the computer during cleaning.

The wipe-clean IP65-rated Medi-Key has been constructed incorporating Biomaster Antimicrobial Technology, acting as a secondary defence to the spread of infection and cross contamination. Biomaster is an innovative, safe, effective and permanent additive for the control of harmful bacteria, making any substrate cleaner and more hygienic. Biomaster has been proven to reduce the growth of MRSA, E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter and over 50 other bacteria by up to 99.99%.



The addition of a PC based application enables the keyboard to be reprogrammed for easy on-site upgrades without the need of special programming equipment, ideal for changing key configurations for example.

The ergonomic keyboard has a lighter feel with a more tactile response, and the option of an integrated numeric pad for faster data input. The addition of a larger touchpad which supports gesture control and a 76.7mm x 44.7mm sensing area provides a familiar interface that is easy to use and clean, with no grooves or dirt traps.

With a minimum operating life of 6 hours, battery life is further preserved with a 15 minute sleep mode and auto shutdown after 48 hours. Optional back illumination makes the keys visible in all light conditions.
