The Flamemaster range of masterbatches and compounds incorporates specially developed additives that swell or char in reaction to the heat of a fire. Although simplified, the diagram shows the three elements required for sustained burning; Fuel, Heat and Oxygen.
Removal of any one of these essentail elements will result in the fire being extinguished. In many fires involving polymers the fuel is provided by the degradation of the polymer (a chemical chain reaction) and stopping the reaction provides the means of preventing substained burning. Flamemaster products seal off the polymer from the fire, preventing degradation.
In Addition, Flamemaster products provide a mass transport barrier, restricting fuel / air mixing
and an insulation layer reducing the heat transfer to the air and fuel.
The Flamemaster Range provides excellent results in numerous polymers and a wide range of test standards. A cost effective solution is thus available to pass test such as the UL94 and BS476.
Each grade can be uniquely tailored to meet the requirements of the most demanding of application and can be supplied in a masterbatch or compound form.
Flamemaster products contain no chlorine and no bromine and as such give very low smoke.
